Anybody who thinks San Diego doesn’t have seasons should look around our kitchen.
It’s easy to forget when you live in a place like San Diego, where it’s beautiful year-round, but we’re not supposed to eat strawberries all the time. Or asparagus. Or cherry tomatoes.

Or to put it another way: thanks to the wonders of transportation technology, we CAN eat everything all the time. It just doesn’t taste very good. But there’s no tomato like a perfect summer tomato. And nothing like the taste of sweet corn that’s at its height of flavor. Food is supposed to be seasonal, and there’s a time of year when everything is at its peak flavor.
That’s when you’ll find it on the menu at George’s California Modern.
